For years I have had a Present Bag and only recently when I saw someone on instagram talk about an analog bag as a way of staying away from their screens did I think– Wait I have always had this!
Usually I have a bag like this when I am going away — to a place like a cabin when I know there will be time to play and be creative. Although I am usually only there for a couple of nights, it never fails, I have always packed enough for a month of creative fun!
When I get home, I usually leave my bag packed – not so I have it to run with in a fire or a sudden holiday– but because I never get to it….which means it hangs behind my door or sits on the floor of my studio.
The very sight of this special bag which I bought in France on a family trip – purchased at a grocery store for not much- brings me joy.
And inside I can go back to any of the projects that are simple and self-contained.
For people who are trying to stay away from screens and be more creative— this is a winner of an idea!

Although I always take my journal everywhere, it was not inside my bag because I had been doing my daily writing practice – so it is not mentioned here…

This Present Bag- one that keeps you in the present moment and present to your own life- surely a present to yourself ( and perhaps filled with presents that you have given yourself which are only brought to life with your presence)
