Easter Bunny buns

Do you have a bread maker? Or if you make dough for buns from scratch– here’s a little hack that is so simple. The result: super cute little bunnies suitable for any Easter table!

If you have children in your life, they can help by rolling the buns (it doesn’t matter what size, just as long as all the buns are roughly the same size). To help young children be successful – you can divide the dough equally and they can roll each piece into a ball . When each bun is on the backing sheet, and they have risen under a clean towel, before you pop them into the oven- with clean children’s scissors (or kitchen scissors if it is you baking), simple pinch and cut on either side from the middle out. I could have started cutting 2/3’s of the way instead of at in the middle for longer ears…

As you roll each piece into a ball, you place them onto a cookie sheet (I use parchment paper, depending on your pans, you may not need to).
Let the butter melt– mmm so good! And the kitchen smells like my Mom’s house.
Good luck keeping them from the family for your Easter meal.

Here is my bread machine recipe. It is how I made the buns you see in the pictures.

  • Water 11oz
  • White flour 3 cups
  • Butter 2 Tablespoons
  • Dry Milk 1 1/2 Tablespoons
  • Sugar 2 Tablespoons
  • Salt 1 1/2 Teaspoons
  • Yeast 1 Teaspoon

Then bake as you would normally. I baked these at 350’F for 15 minutes and then checked them and gave them another 7 minutes, but you know your oven –

Happy Easter

This is my mom’s recipe and has been particularly nostalgic for my daughters over the years since they were little and Mormor’s baking was the very best! Frankly, there are healthier buns and I’d love to hear your recipe and how these bunny buns have turned out in your kitchen. Please let me know if you have a chance to try them!
