Good morning
I wanted to share with you some different methods of starting seeds – here is a cell blocker. When I was a little girl, I loved to make mud pies… it was a good skill to have when making the cell blocks. It’s a bit of a balance between starter mix (which I bought a bag of at the garden centre) and water. I was amazed that the little blocks stayed together. Like using icing sugar to make icing, you will need more soil than you think and it’s easier to add more water a little at a time to get the right consistency. My little seedlings were amazing last year ( I took these pictures last Spring) and the roots do become very strong using this method because they head out the edge, see light and then produce more roots- there’s no being root bound like in a pot. Quite amazing. I bought this tool at Dig This a garden store in Victoria . This link also gives you some recipes for the soil mixture.
Happy planting!
